How to Choose a White Laser Module Below 30 Watts?

LEP modules below 30 watts are mainly divided into two types: transmission-type structure and reflection-type structure.

First, the principle of the transmission-type structure is as follows:

Blue laser light is irradiated onto the yellow phosphor, and the energy needs to be conducted out through the transparent sapphire heat dissipation substrate.

The fluorescence conversion efficiency of the phosphor crystal and the heat dissipation performance of the sapphire substrate are the key factors that determine the performance of the module.

Advantages:
Small size, high adaptability of the module structure, and relatively low cost.

Disadvantages:
Due to heat dissipation limitations, the maximum brightness has an upper limit.

The smallest LEP module

Second, the principle of the reflection-type structure is as follows:

Blue laser light is irradiated onto the yellow phosphor, and the energy needs to be conducted out through a high-reflection aluminum heat dissipation substrate.

Advantages:
Good heat dissipation, adjustable high brightness.
Disadvantages:
More complex structure, slightly larger size, and higher cost.

Luminous Flux

When considering practicality, we must also take into account the factor of luminous flux.

The luminous flux of an LEP module is mainly determined by the electrical power and the size of the light spot, and is the result of complex internal optical path adjustments.

In the left picture below, the luminous spot center has a diameter of 0.4mm, with a brightness of up to 2000cd/mm² and a luminous flux of 360 lumens.
In the right picture below, the luminous spot center has a diameter of 1.2mm, with a brightness of up to 600cd/mm² and a luminous flux of 630 lumens.

A simplified explanation is：

The larger the luminous emitting point, the higher the luminous flux.
The smaller the luminous emitting point, the higher the brightness.
